A workshop bringing together Italian and Polish scholars to explore the impact of epidemics, wars, and economic crises in pre-unification Italy through interdisciplinary and comparative perspectives on resilience and institutional responses.

The workshop Le crisi nella storia dell’Italia pre-unitaria. Epidemie, guerra, economia, organized by Anna Horeczy and Agata Błoch within the PAS-CNR bilateral project Lessons from Crises and Disasters: The Role of Information Flows between Individuals, Communities, Institutions. Comparative Case Studies between Italy and Poland (16th–19th Century), brought together Italian and Polish scholars to discuss the historical impact of epidemics, wars, and economic crises in pre-unification Italy. Moderated by Prof. Roman Sosnowski and Dr. Anna Horeczy, the event featured presentations by Paola Avallone, Isabella Cecchini, Idamaria Fusco, Geltrude Macrì, and Raffaella Salvemini (CNR-ISEM). Held at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, the workshop fostered interdisciplinary and comparative discussion on crises, resilience, and institutional responses.
